There have been multiple studies conducted that are showing that elderberry serves both as an immune stimulant and as a remedy for viral infections, especially the flu and common cold. This is a staple item in our house! 

Benefits of Elderberry:

Elderberries naturally contain A, B, and C and stimulate the immune system. Researchers have found that the complex sugars in elderberries support the immune system in fighting cold and flu by disarming the enzyme viruses use to penetrate healthy cells in the lining of the nose and throat. Taken before infection, it prevents infection. Taken after infection, it prevents spread of the virus through the respiratory tract. In a clinical trial, 20% of study subjects reported significant improvement within 24 hours, 70% by 48 hours, and 90% claimed complete cure in three days. In contrast, subjects receiving the placebo required 6 days to recover.

Dosage: Children take 1 teaspoon a day. Adults take 1 tablespoon a day. If you are feeling sick, children should take 1/4 teaspoons every 2-3 hours and Adults 1 tablespoon every 2-3 hours until symptoms subside.

Note: For children under one year old, honey isn’t recommended, so maple syrup, agave nectar etc can be substituted in place of the honey per customer request.
